On Thursday, October 1st from 6-8pm at the Kress Pavilion, we are so very excited to be partnering with Julie Slovin, a Sister Bay resident and the founder of the nonpartisan, data-driven nonprofit Women's Rights Data Initiative, for an educational evening in Egg Harbor. We have yet again found ourselves with a mouthful of an event name (the official title is "Policy Matters: How the 2026 Midterms Could Shape Women's Rights in Wisconsin" but we're calling it "Policy Matters" for short). Title aside, I'm quite sure if you're on this email list you'll enjoy and be interested in what we're going to learn about from Julie. Plus! We are so incredibly grateful that Cupola Cafe has generously offered to provide food.

Here's a bit more about what Julie plans to cover at our event:  

We'll frame the presentation around the question: What's at stake in November for women's rights in Wisconsin? We'll look at policy implications of the 2026 midterms across multiple domains, including healthcare and reproductive rights, women's safety, education, workplace rights, and voting access.  

And we'll learn more about the following: 

• The women's rights legislation and policy decisions from each party during Wisconsin's last session (2025-2026) - reviewing these will give us an idea of what to expect if one party dominates the power structure in 2027

• Related trends and momentum behind specific legislation and policy across states and at the federal level that could also influence a woman's rights and access here in Wisconsin

• Comparing the candidates - their positions and voting history around women's issues
